“The fish lives and the farmers die.”

California State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, recently penned this article about Paul Rodriguez and his plight of the California Latino Water Coalition.
“What has Rodriguez’ concerned to spark political action is the shutdown of water pumps in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. These pumps move water from California’s wet north to the agricultural Central Valley and urban Southern California. A judge’s ruling switched the pumps off over a controversial U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service report that declared a fish, the delta smelt, threatened. No …

John Cruz Mount Clemons School Board

John Cruz Mount Clemons School Board- At the convention, I had the opportunity to listen to a speech by John Cruz who is running for Mount Clemons School Board. He is very impressive and will help make Mount Clemons School Board vastly better. I would ask each person reading this to reach out to people you know in Mount Clemons and have them vote for John. Go to his campaign site at http://www.electjohncruz.com/ and help in any way possible.

Is Rush hurting Hispanics Republicans?

http://www.hispanicbusiness.com/entertainment/2009/3/13/is_rush_limbaugh_helping_or_hurting.htm
With Rush Limbaugh being painted by Democrats as the de facto leader of the Republican Party, and the Hispanic vote swinging back to the Democratic side in the last election, it’s worth asking: What do prominent Hispanic Republicans think of Rush Limbaugh?
Great article from Hispanic Business Magazine that quotes several RNHA Chairs and Leslie Sanchez of CNN

A McCain vs Obama mano-a-mano at the National Association of Latino Elected Officials

I was listening to NPR over the weekend and happened to hear a story on McCain’s and Obama’s address at NALEO’s 25th’s Annual Conference.  Our very own RNHA chairperson was quoted for the story.
[McCain]’s probably the best person we could have put out there in terms of the party to run for president in 2008 …[McCain]’s a friend to the Hispanic community.
No doubt both candidates have their work cut out to win over the Latino vote.  At any rate, the full audio story is available by clicking here [here].

Jane Garcia: 2007 Michiganian of the Year from the Detroit News

A warm congrats to Jane Garcia who recently won 2007 Michiganian of the Year from the Detroit News. If you see Jane please congratulate her! From the Detroit News:

Her personality is a mix of toughness, charm and integrity, says Monica Martinez, vice president of Hispanic business affairs for Comerica Inc., who’s known Garcia since childhood.
“She’s a true visionary,” Martinez says. “She understands how decisions are made and that you have to be heard at the table where decisions are made.”
Besides the Catholic Church, Garcia also challenged perhaps the …
