Drivers of Good Economies

Thank You- A special thanks to all who have continuously taken the time to connect people to our growing MRNHA organization. Please take a moment to think about other Hispanics in your network with conservative values (most have them) and please connect them to this newsletter and the MRNHA.

May 22nd Save the Date - Please save the date for MRNHA Dinner and Awards Ceremony. We are working very hard to have an outstanding event for the Hispanic Community and Republican Party. More details forthcoming.

Economy- Per the articles below, Michigan is last among all states with the highest unemployment. There is some really great work out of Detroit Renaissance http://www.detroitrenaissance.com/ and Mackinac Center for Public Policy http://www.mackinac.org/ which details many areas where our state can make changes to get our state on track and improve. As the race for Michigan Governor heats up, we need ensure our next governor leads us through this tough environment and implements and accelerates some of these recommendations to get our state on track. Please get to know the candidates for Governor (and all other elected offices).

Drivers of good economies- Job creators have a choice where they set up their business and expand. Michigan needs to be the most attractive of all the 50 states to set up and grow a business. When this happens (i.e, what is happening in movie/film industry here in Michigan due to tax incentives) companies invest here, create jobs, people buy homes, home prices rise, people eat out more, restaurants hire more, people shop more, stores hire more, more tax dollars come in and the positive cycle continues throughout the state economy. When you create an unfavorable job creator environment (higher taxes, high regulation on business, make business the bad guy, etc.) you get the negative of the above and it becomes a job-loss/people leaving/home price dropping/etc. never ending spiral. We can learn from Texas who ended 2008 with a surplus of $10 Billion dollars and has people from all around the country going there for jobs (and creating the positive cycle for Texas).

Education- US Congressman Hoekstra has a great video talking about Educational Choice:

We/our government spends about $9-13K per student a year in public education (this is before the additional stimulus $$ that are going out to schools around the country). It would be transformational to give kids who are trapped in poor performing schools a voucher for $9-13K to go to a school of their choice. Is Public Policy, Politics, MEA, and Teachers Unions the major barrier to making this happen. What are India and China spending per student per year to educate their population? What are the results compared to the US? The world is flat and getting flatter.

Take 5 to connect 5 - Please take 5 minutes and think of 5 conservative Hispanics in your network and connect them to the MRNHA and this newsletter. They can sign up at the right. Thanks to all those who have connected more MRNHA members to our growing organization.

Make the world a better place!

Un Abrazo - MRNHA
